How I want 2014 to be awesome

The only thing I wish for at the start of every new year is that it is better than the last. That’s in keeping with my idea of evolution- we’re continually growing.

There was a period of my life there where I dreaded this resolution because each year seemed to get stinkier and I thought I’d never turn things around.

If you are in that place now, I want you to know you have someone cheering you on and holding you up. It sucks, but it does get better. It might take 4 or 5 years, but if you keep holding that vision for better in your heart, it will arrive.

I think this is the first year in about 7 that I can stand with my head firmly held high knowing brighter days are ahead.

It feels good.

So with that confidence I look forth with expectation to a smashing 2014 and this is how I want it to be better.

1. Raise my income

I’m launching a cool project experiment within the next couple of weeks where I start testing and trialling ways to bring more money into my life.

This is the year where I focus on using the magic to help me create more money. I finally believe I deserve it and feel I can do it. I’m excited about this one, stay tuned.

2. Improve my health and vitality

A huge focus this year is a return to exercise and healthy sugar free, gluten free eating. I’m back enjoying my morning yoga meditation ritual and I’ve now got a high speed blender with us on our road trip to focus on making divine food.

3. Create more products

Now that I’ve written and luanched one ebook, I’m addicted. My next one, Step into your Sacredness, is sitting with the designer now, and hoping to launch on February 18th.

I have ideas mapped out for an extensive course for travel blogging press trips and sponsorships. And a few other ideas. Excited to knuckle down and get these done.

4. Slow travel

We’re aiming to slow it down around Australia this year and really narrow it done to exploring must see regions several weeks at a time rather than trying to see and do everything.

I’m really craving a sense of a settled life, so I know I need to incorporate the aspects of that into our travels.

5. Embrace more spiritual practice

I’ve recently amassed a bunch of crystals and angel oracle cards. This is the year I tap more into my own spiritual depths and explore new areas of it. This could be a fun and magical journey.

6. Learn more from those who are where I want to be

I’m a huge lover of learning. I’m always doing courses or reading books. I don’t think you can have success without investing time and money into learning from those who have what you want. This year I am redoing Marie Forleo’s B-School, I am currently LOVING Donna Moritz’s Create traffic driving images course, and I am intending to do something with Belinda Davidson.

7. start my own mentorship group with the help of Marie Forleo

I’m excited to be offering a mentoring group for Marie Forleo’s B-School this year. Anyone who wants to create the business life they love should do this course. It’s awesome.

I’m so thrilled with it and happy to stand behind it. Anyone who signs up under my link will join my inner circle and I’ll be offering many different things as a source of extra support and guidance.

8. Create better relationships

This year I am focused on being a better mother, wife and friend. I’ve already started to put some things in to practice and loving the difference it is making, especially with the girls. I just love being their mother and spending every day with them now travelling. They rock and delight me.

9. Build a team in my business

Craig and I are focused this year on building a team around what we do. It’s time to step it up to that level. We do too much and are tired of having to put energy into things we don’t love or are good at. It’s a scary step because income is never consistent, but we know this is what we have to do. I’m relying on my mantra,

We’re currently looking for a social media manager, and later down the track, I’m intending to hire and assistant and an editor.

I haven’t worked out how to make 2014 awesome yet, but I know I need it to be. It’s a year of a lot of uncertainties for me, but for now I’m not too worried about that. I think 2014 needs to be the year of me. Of health. Of self care. Of making the time for what I believe is important, not for what others think is important.

Absolutely Vanessa. I really encourage you to take this year for you. We never put ourselves first, but really we are the most important. Stand up for you, even if you take small steps each day. This is your year

I love that the #1 item on your list is about increasing your income. Because it should be – you guys work so hard, you should be seeing the financial benefits of it! Plus, money gives us the ability to spend more time doing the things we love (because we can outsource the stuff we don’t love ….which you guys are already looking to do so that is exciting).

Looking forward to seeing how 2014 goes for you guys Caz. I remember the discontent shining through your words in blog posts from 3-4 years ago. Things are so different now and that’s so awesome to see xx

Thank you Kelly! It’s been a wild ride but one that has brought me to this place of peace. I can’t wait to start outsourcing more, it’s so liberating. I’m ready to bring oodles of money in 🙂 Hope you have an amazing year, 2013 was a great one for you

Sounds like 2014 is going to be a year of growth for you, Caz! I love the focus on health; it’s the most important thing, but it’s so often forgotten. I used to exercise three times a week and that has fallen by the wayside these past few months. Time to take it up again!

Mine has fallen by the wayside. Too much fabulous eating in Tasmania and Victoria. I’m doing an Asian detox for a few days and then hitting the pavement.

    Happy New Year Caz!
You really have had such a great year. Travelling around Oz with our girls is a future goal of mine so it’s wonderful being able to follow your trip and read your insights as a mum on the road.
Shame we couldn’t catch up when you guys were in town – it would have been lovely to spend some time getting to know you a little better. Hope your trip to Tassie was fab and that 2014 treats you well 🙂
