What’s the Best Advice You Have Ever Been Given?

Our thought of the week is a hard one as I have been given so much great advice in so many different areas of my life. To try and narrow it down is really difficult.

I think, I would have to say

“If you don’t ask the answer is always no!”

I wish I could even remember who said that. It has taken me a long time to work up the courage to do this often, but now that I do it brings so much into my life that I desire.

Often times we don’t ask because we are afraid of the rejection, but if we let ourselves think that if you don’t ask you are going to be rejected anyway then the odds turn in our favour to ask.

So next time you go to stop yourself from asking because you are afraid of the no or you don’t think you deserve it, tell yourself to ask anyway. You just never know!! The answer could be yes. Imagine if you lost that opportunity because of your fear. I’d rather take the no then the I’ll never know.

Take advantage of every moment you have. Tomorrow may never come. – told to me by a mother who’s son had just committed suicide.

So very true! We just never know when it will be the end. We have to live each moment fully. We need to tell our children from birth that they are dying one day at a time so they know they have to live fully

Never speak ill of others. It’s a hard one to follow, but it’s a really good policy.

It is very hard to follow. Such a shame. But I think as long as you are trying than that is a walk forward,

“If it sucks, you can always go home” told to me by my dad when I was 16 and headed abroad for the first time. Helped me get past my fear and have the time of my life. Also kicked off decades of amazing travels to follow.

Ha Ha. funny you should say that one as that was my thinking that kind of got me in trouble with a post I wrote last week on my travel blog.
I think it shows you have a choice over your life. If you don’t like something you can change it. Great advice!! And look what happened because of it for you

“If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Something I try and stick to, and whenever I slip up I kick myself!

A really important one. I say that to my students all the time. It doesn’t really work though 🙂 I think if we all monitored ourselves a little better with this we would all get along so well

“Regret is usually a waste of time”…it’s actually a line from a movie but I always think about it when I’m letting the past consume my thoughts. All you can do in life is move forward.

I hate regrets!! I always try to live my life so I don’t have any. for me this is the worst emotion to feel as it tells me I haven’t made the most of my life.

Reading the comments above brought to mind the advice that “You’ll regret the things you DON’T do more than you’ll ever regret the things that you do.” So true.

But I’d have to say that the best piece of advice I’ve ever received is from the “good book”… You reap what you sow. Some call it karma, some call it the law of attraction. Life has proven to me and those around me time and time again that whatever you put out is what you’ll get back.

Of course!! Karma is one piece of advice we all need to pay attention to, for good and bad! It’s so nice to know we can make a positive impact and have great things happen in return just by doing that. Spread the love
