Starting our dream life

I’m settled into my office chair, my cup of tea beside me and for the first time I type with deep satisfaction and excitement.

I’m not filled with frantic hope or desperate energy. I’m calm and know that we are in the right place.

Craig is finally at home working full time with me on our businesses.

It’s surprising how easy the decision was to make because it was backed by my gut. It was calm and soft and free flowing. There was no angst and no fear, just a deep knowing that this was the right thing to do.

It was getting too much for him and me. Trying to juggle the business with freelance writing and other contract,  press trips, functions, business meetings, parenthood and then Craig’s full-time job and my very casual teaching one.

It meant he’d only have a couple of hours at night starting at nine by the time we got the kids to bed and me working only a day here and there.

There was so much we wanted to do but just couldn’t because of time.

We’re ready to move to the next level so the choice was to quit on the dream or quit on the job.

Easy decision.

My new office

There is a little fear there, but it’s not a head fear, it’s a motivating fear. A fear that needs to be present for us to understand that this is serious and we need to up our game. There are no back doors.

It’s not a fear that comes from self-doubt, insecurity or other people’s opinions, so I know the fear is a safe one and a guiding friend. I know it’s right because my dominate emotion is security and excitement.

I’m so excited that we are now living our dream together.

I am so excited that were are reclaiming parts of our life back: health, fitness, non-work hours, night time foot massages on the couch while watching movies. (Yeah right!)

I am so excited that we can now start doing what we’ve been talking about for months… and do it properly.

Our dream life starts now. So I’ll just put it out there. We’re in the freelancing world now. We can consult, coach, create content and social media campaigns and teach.

Check out my hire me page.

Let’s get the party started.

P.S the knowingness of right decision continues. Since going full time we have had two freelance contracts come in, a contract extended, a speaking opportunity, a couple of other good opportunities, an increase in traffic and 1.7 million Pinterest followers. I love how the Universe speaks!

That’s amazing, Caz and so well deserved for the both of you! I love your uplifting optimism and insightful and thoughtful posts.

And can’t wait for Craig to keep explaining those mysteries of men (I made my loo loving boyfriend read his toilet time post)

    Keep up your awesome work!

Thank you so much Kate! We appreciate it! I’ve asked for Craig’s next post to explain why men like to go off and start exercising at 5:30pm when it is cooking, feeding and bathing time at the zoo!!

That’s brilliant, Caz. I often wonder how you guys do it all, so it’s good to know you’re only human and have limits too! It would be great to have my other half work in the same field as I do so we could do something similar (I think more lead by me than him!). It’s not just sharing the workload, but the love and enthusiasm for what you do. So it’s great you’re both in the position that Craig can give up his job. Must be exciting.

Thanks Linda it really is great to have someone working with you on it. IT can be challenging at times so it helps have someone to push you along and to celebrate the victories with.
